Mingulay is an uninhabited island situated 12 miles south of Barra. From 1996 to 2011 Brook was spending periods of up to 4 months at a time working there. On the west side there are a number of dramatic cliffs, the highest one being Biulacraig which she studied in depth through painting and drawing. She made a series of sculptural works, most of which were temporary. The works in stone are still there.
