The full stretch of the west coast of Jura is remote and uninhabited. Brook lived and worked in a natural cliff arch in 1991, 1992 for 2 six month periods, and in 1993-94 from early Spring to the following April. She was studying the landscape from observation through painting and drawing working on the 3 main hills situated above the coastline where she was living. The sculptural work in the landscape began in early 1992. Due to the transient nature of the work Brook began using film and photography as an integral part of the work.
